WHY BIG GOVERNMENT JUST DOESN'T WORK
1. Where do you work at?
2. You will wear these skippies from Payless!!
And you had to wear them! Why?? Because someone else had the money and they were taking care of you. That's the same way I feel about the federal government and people expecting it to solve all of their problems. Sure, big government will march in to save the day-- but at what cost??
When someone else is supporting you, you pretty much have to live by their rules! Universal healthcare sounds awesome on paper, but that also gives the government the power to tell you what treatments THEY think you should receive and WHEN you should receive it! And if you are too fargone in your illness-- Oh well, it was nice knowing you! Think that is impossible?? It's in the massive stimulus plan that our elected officials just passed without reading! It's hidden in that 'digitalized medical records' part of it.
GM took money from the government and Obama FIRED their CEO! And he is demanding that they build the cars HE feels as though they should build! And WHY is he meddling in a private business?? Because government money is all up in it!
Pretty soon that is going to fall on the average American.
I know most liberals who are for big government intervention think those that are against it are greedy and selfish. But I can only speak for myself when I say I take care of myself because I don't want to have to answer to anybody!I don't want the government providing me with healthcare, food or anything else. I just want my taxes used on the police, sanitation and the like.
Now many people fall on hard times and I understand that. But this is why it behooves everyone to get back up again and work hard to overcome.
Big government has never helped anyone accept big government!

I thought fear-mongering was only for those dastardly Republicans!
I have thought about all that. As a matter of fact, I have been laid off and unemployed myself before. Albeit, it wasn’t during an economic crisis, but I know what it’s like to do with less. MUCH less. MUCH, MUCH LESS!
However, every single problem this country is going through right now STILL DOESN’T EXCUSE our President and his Democrat minions [and the idiot Republicans who have voted for this theft of a plan – Arlen Specter (R-PA), Susan Collins (R-ME), Olympia Snowe (also R-ME)] for trying to shove down our throats a stimulus bill with only a little for the economy and a heck-of-a-lot PORK for the leftwing entities that helped this man get elected.
Yes, something needs to be done to quell the downward spiral of our economy. No, it does not include global warming research, purchases of golf carts, hybrid batteries, coal plants, universal healthcare, contraceptive use and other items that stem from the Democrat wish-list they have held near and dear to their hearts for the last eight years.
Obama’s Chief of Staff and longtime Chicago buddy Rahm Emanuel famously said: ““Rule one: Never allow a crisis to go to waste… They are opportunities to do big things.” This was on November 9th of 2008, a mere few days after the President won the election. And boy, are they taking advantage of this opportunity!
Obama used the same fear-mongering rhetoric that he accused Bush of using by stating that any delay in getting his bill passes will turn ‘"a crisis into a catastrophe”’. Isn’t this the guy who chided Bush for using the same tactic and said that ‘we have chosen hope over fear’ during his inauguration speech? I guess fear-mongering should be used sparingly.
Democrats have taken it upon themselves to use this economic atmosphere to plug in all of their gifts as if this was a Christmas list to Santa rather than a very important bill to get the economy running again. Americans, especially the ones dealing with foreclosure and unemployment should be railing against the pork in this bill more than anyone else. These tolerant, loving ‘we’re-for-the-little-guy’ Democrats are thinking of no one but themselves and using people’s very real issues as an afterthought.
The sad part is that many people don’t care what’s in the bill. The same ones who cry and scream that we need something done quickly are the same ones that ignore the fact that the government is being SLOPPY with the spending of money WE JUST DON’T HAVE. Who cares about the pork? They fume. Republicans are playing games!’ Obama accuses them of not being bi-partisan because they (with the exception of the idiotic three) are against this bill.
LET ME SHUT THAT DOWN RIGHT HERE: Republicans seem to be the only people looking at this seriously and rationally. If you want to draft a stimulus bill to help the economy, AND you want Republican support on it—then adding foolish things like what I listed above will not help! Fiscal irresponsibility comes from both sides. Republican definitely had a hand in how this economy spiraled out of control, but now that they are thinking clearly and trying to reverse the foolishness and for that, they are accused of playing games. Wow. Obama admits that the stimulus is not perfect—well then do as you promised, Mr. President, and ensure that all of the pork is cut out!
Screw Olbermann. Forget Limbaugh. Away with Maddow. Ignore O’Reilly!!! RESEARCH FOR YOURSELF!
And a special message to Christians: Stop depending on Obama for your livelihood! Look unto the hills from whence cometh your help. It should be coming from the LORD!

WHAT'S RELEVANT TO ME AT THE MOMENT....
Wow, how long has it been since I blogged? Let’s see, around Thanksgiving when a herd of animals stampeded over a Wal Mart worker in Valley Stream, Long Island to get to the Black Friday sales—that’s the last time I had something to say. Well I have some more to say now, here it goes:
*Our new President is pushing a pork-laden ‘stimulus’ package to help jumpstart our economy. Bush tried it last year—didn’t work (this man was a straight liberal when it came to spending! No wonder the voters rejected anyone affiliated with Bush!) So instead of being the ‘agent of change’ he claimed to be, Obama wants to try it this year. Only difference is that this package is so full of pork, it literally and figuratively belongs in a pig sty. There was Nancy Pelosi’s idea of using hundreds of millions towards contraceptives for poor women (don’t know how that’s supposed to help the economy), and then there’s the billions that will be going to Obama’s favorite community organizing program ACORN (are you as shocked as I am at that?) and of course money towards beautifying the National Mall, 'habitat restoration' global warming research, and stations for electronic cars—ECONOMY BOOST, HERE WE COME! Rush Limbaugh among other conservative pundits are vilifying this plan and rightly so. It sucks. Even many Democrats aren’t crazy about it. The government helped screw the economy up due to their spineless ideas towards federal regulation (with plenty of blame to spread among both sides), so why in the world are we counting on it to save the economy? God help us! SOLUTIONS: Some of those banks just need to fail—sorry, that’s just the way it should be.
*Just read about some lady in California who had octuplets. I am glad both mom and babies are good. I am not glad, however, that she is an unemployed single mother who lives with her parents and who also has SIX OTHER KIDS already!!! Guess who’s going to raise those kids? Me and You and our tax dollars too! Even her own mother says that she is crazy for what she did. So here we have a single 33 yr old obviously mentally-disturbed woman who has to be the only parent to FOURTEEN kids!!! Wow. Just wow. I recently read that companies like Proctor & Gamble and Gerber are not jumping up to give her the freebies they usually give parents of multiple kids. It could be because this woman is getting so much bad press, they don’t want consumers boycotting them for aiding this crazy woman. I worry about the kids in this situation….all of them are under the age of 8. How are they going to get the attention that they need?
*I was going to speak on Obama's interesting tax-evading choices for positions in his cabinet-- but I won't.
*And I am too angry to speak about his executive order for our tax dollars to pay for foreigners abortions. A piece of legistlation he wasted no time signing a mere days after taking the oath of the Office.
*A colleague of mines called me around three in the p.m. to notify us that a plane crashed into the Hudson. I rushed to the other side of the office to look out the window towards midtown Manhattan's section of the river. All I could see was a bunch of ferries surrounding one spot. At first I was scared, hoping and pryaing that someone survived. Bugt when I got home and turned on the news, it was a blessing to know that everyone survived! I cried that evening just thinking of how good and merciful our God is. Captain Sully and his crew have been bombarded with accolades and honors including being personally invited to Obama's inauguration and a trip to the Super Bowl. And they rightly deserve it! God bless them!
So that's what's going on that holds any relevance for me.There are more issues that I have taken an interest in, but I just don't feel like writing about it right now. God bless.

Why I like Sarah Palin
First of all, I am a proud social conservative. I don’t agree with abortions (however, I believe the government has no right to tell you what to do with your body), I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman and I am all for as little government in our lives as possible (financial and otherwise). I am also for low taxes so that I can hold onto what little money I make and I am against illegal immigration. I believe the war on terror is real and people who seek the death of Americans should be dealt with accordingly (although I still don’t see the point of the Iraq war).
With that being said, Obama and McCain were candidates that I just looked at and rolled my eyes.
Obama’s candidacy is amazing as he is the first black man to become the presidential nominee of a major political party. John McCain impresses me in the fact that he is a POW who served his country selflessly and who made enemies among both Democrats AND Republicans because he dared to fight corruption on both sides.
However, both of these men had no problems keeping our borders open to illegals who drain our economy. Both had left-leaning views that I just couldn’t get with. I was well prepared to hold my nose and vote for John McCain.
It seemed for a long time that true Conservatives were left without a candidate, left without a voice in this election who stood up for what they believed it. Well, John McCain must have known that his support was weak and there was NO WAY he could defeat Obama without the solid support from Conservatives and Republicans. He answered that by choosing Governor Sarah Palin.
I must admit that one week ago today, when I read that he had chosen her as his running mate, I shook my head in disbelief. Who is this lady? Why did he choose some unknown person when he is running against arguably the most popular politician in the world? I knew right then and there that McCain’s candidacy was over. Did he properly vet this candidate? Was he aware of the baggage she carried with her? He was going to lose horribly.
But I begin to look up Sarah Palin’s bio. She is only 44. She is the governor of Alaska who has tackled corruption in both parties (like McCain). She is a staunch Conservative, a lifelong NRA member, and a mother of five including a 19 year old son heading to Iraq on September 11 and a special needs baby. Special needs kids hold a special place in my heart being that I have two handsome younger brothers who both suffered epilepsy as babies and are both mentally delayed. Sarah said:
*To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters.I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House. *
That right there encouraged me.
Sarah went after Obama with a vengeance and threw some zingers at him that would have made anybody say ‘Ouch.’ Of course, I am not totally biased—the speech was short of substance. It lacked in specifics. But then again, so did Obama’s. So it is safe to say, that the American people have a right to know how exactly the candidates plan to carry out their promises.
What Sarah did was energize a bored, uninspired, immensely unpopular party. What she did was instill new life. I mean, really, this should be easy street for Democrats. Republicans have held the top spot for eight years. Bush is probably the most unpopular President in history. His administration has been marred by scandal, lies, cover-ups, a record deficit, an unpopular war and many others.
I am actually surprised that the polls don’t show Obama leading 90% to John McCain’s 10%. I am still scratching my head as to why the race is so close being that many accuse John McCain of continuing Bush’s ‘failed policies.’ And that is before Sarah was chosen.
But I digress; the left had a field day with John McCain’s choice of VP. Some wondered if she could juggle official duties while taking care of a sick son the same time (so much for the left’s hypocritical chants that women can have a family and work hard at the same time. I guess it only applied to Democrats.) They made up vicious rumors that Bristol Palin, Sarah’s 17 year old daughter was actually the mother of Trig, the down-syndrome baby. They even brought up her husband’s 22 year old DWI charge. And these are the same people that believe Obama’s drug abuse in college and Ted Kennedy’s drunk driving that resulted in him abandoning a dying woman in a river is off limits. They did everything they could to totally slaughter her.
That only energized the Republicans and they came out swinging at the left-leaning MSM for their hypocrisy.
Of course their LEGITIMATE concerns are well warranted. She was in charge of that ‘bridge to no where’ fiasco that cost the federal government millions. She is currently being investigated for trying to have her ex-brother in law fired from the state troopers. I have a problem with Obama because I think he lacks experience and I have loudly voiced it. I will also voice my concerns about Sarah as well. Her not-so-thick resume speaks volumes. I have a problem with it because, God forbid, if John McCain dies—will she be a good president? Will she know what to do?
I like Sarah Palin. I like her personality and I like the fact that she seems down to earth and she appeals to moderates. I highly doubt extreme-left liberal women will vote for her because she is anti-abortion. John McCain most likely chose Sarah to appeal to women who were still angry about Hillary’s lost—but those women aren’t that angry that they would vote for a staunch Conservative.
This election is shaping up to be quite a fight and I most certainly am looking forward to it.

Taking sides: Jesse Jackson and Barack Obama
But this came along…..
When I first heard about the good Reverend Jesse Jackson’s ‘accidental’ words just before he went on FOX NEWS I paid it no mind. I didn’t think it was a big deal. But obviously it is a big deal because the media coverage of it is wall-to-wall.
Admittingly, I didn’t get the whole crux of Jackson’s words. It wasn’t until this morning while I watching the Today show that I heard it. I’m not going to quote them verbatim, though.
Basically Jesse feels that Obama talks down to black folks, particularly with dealing with faith-based initiatives and Jesse felt as though that cutting Obama’s nuts off would be in order. Obviously he didn’t mean it literally but we all know what he was implying. He thinks Obama is getting too big for his britches’ as the old folks used to say.
Why?
I must admit that Obama had me a tad perturbed when he told a group of black folks in South Carolina to go get ‘Pookie and Ray-Ray’ to go vote for him during the primaries. And just the other day he told a crowd of young kids that everyone couldn’t be a Li’l Wayne, they had to go out there and get an education. The point was good, but the way he made it was not. Is Li’l Wayne the only type of person black kids aspire to be like? No.
But that’s not the point. For the most part, Obama challenges black folks to do better. His Fathers’ Day speech on absentee black fathers hit home. It upset a lot of people, but it needed to be said—yes, even on Fathers’ Day.
I applaud Obama for taking the black community to task for some of its ills. Every situation we go through is not the result of the white man or a racist government. Some of our issues were manufactured by US.
I believe Obama believes in personal responsibility. And for that he has my utmost respect.
Herein lies the problem with Jesse Jackson.
Jesse Jackson has long been a person who thinks the government and socialism holds all the answers to the black community’s problems. His and Al Sharpton’s brand of ‘black leadership’ consists of trouncing on anything being construed as racist and rarely taking a step towards rectifying what is wrong within our own communities.
Granted, both Jesse and Al have said and done some things that have offered a glimmer of hope that they do want us to better ourselves but then they resort to their race-baiting tactics all over again and that glimmer of hope vanishes
I believe that both Jesse and Al realize that Barack Obama is not your average black leader. He believes in the value of hard work. He believes that white racism does not have to be a deterrent for us to achieve success.
This scares the two ‘Reverends’ who have made their living off of race-baiting and demanding that the government make all of our problems go away.
Jesse Jackson is upset about that. And I am figuring that this is the reason he was angry. This is the reason he is angry.
Jesse Jackson would have never apologized for his words if they weren’t caught on a live mic on FOX NEWS. What did Rihanna just sing?
Don’t tell me you’re sorry cuz you’re not….you’re only sorry you got caught……
As I travel the blogosphere, it has come to my attention that black folks are taking sides on the matter. Some say that Obama is right in what he says and that he should not be criticized. Others say that Jesse is correct and Obama is not really tackling black issues. He is only giving lectures and not really encouraging the black community.
It is of little concern to me because I am not voting for him regardless. And I always believed that ‘change’ and ‘hope’ should begin in YOU. Not some politician, no matter what his skin color is.
I do think, however, that Jesse is jealous. Al is jealous. The black elites who call on the government to improve the lives of black folks are threatened by this bi-racial newcomer who dares voice the same concerns that Bill Cosby and white religious Conservatives have been voicing for years.
I guess Obama and the liberal Democrats always thought that their greatest fights will be against John McCain and the Right. I guess they had no clue that they would have an immediate hurdle right in front of them: disgruntled black folks.
And Jesse aint the only one either.

What happened to just walking away when you are turned down by someone??
If you don’t know about it, I will fill you in—any self-respecting person should be disgusted at what happened to this girl!
Mildred was a mere 18 years old and was just about to graduate high school. She and two friends went clubbing on May 19 and having left early in the morning, they stopped at a gas station to fill up their cars an grab some sodas. In pulls a Chevrolet HHR with three or four guys in it. The guys accost the girls, asking them for their numbers and flirting with them.
The girls obviously rebuff their advances and the Chevy followed their Nissan Maxim and started throwing things at the ladies car. I don’t know how it escalated to that point, but eventually those beasts of the field started shooting.
The bullet struck Mildred and for the next two weeks she loses part of her lung, has a bout with pneumonia and might have to live with paralyzing spinal damage! But she didn’t live! Did she??
Having been told that she was brain dead, her mother and aunt decided to have the tubes pulled and she was pronounced dead at one in the afternoon on yesterday.
The other girls in the car with her didn’t get good looks at the men even though two sketches have been released.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/orl-teenshot0408jun04,0,3744827.story
This all leaves me scratching my head and looking up at the sky wondering what is wrong with people today??
It used to be that if a man saw you, liked what he saw and approached you—he would of course say hello, ask how you are doing and eventually ask for the digits (ugghh, that word is sooooo 90s). If you turned him down, whether nicely or with a nasty attitude, he just called you a stuck up b***** and bounced. And off he was to seek out another girl. He would ask for her number too (preferably in front of your face so you can feel some type of jealousy over a man you only knew for a few seconds and didn’t care for no way or no how.)
The point was, the dude got over it and moved on. Now it is to the point where they will shoot you? Are you freakin’ serious?? What did Mildred and her girls do or say that caused these dudes to react with gunshots? I don’t care if those girls talked about their mamas!
What kind of low self-esteem did these dudes have that they felt so rejected and played that shooting at those girls was the only course of action they could take?
This should make all women think. How many times have you been accosted by some guy and rebuffed him either with an eye roll or a fake smile and a ‘No, thank you’ or just ignored him? Did you think he would shoot you? Were you scared for your life when you denied him?
When guys catcall me and try to talk I just smile as sincerely as I can and say ‘No thanks’. I don’t catch attitudes (no matter how disrespectful some guys would get), I don’t look them up and down with disgust and wave them away dismissively. I just smile and keep walking. Why?
Because partly, there is no reason to be nasty, and mostly because I don’t know how that dude might react!!
Years ago while I was in high school, I was about to cross the street and standing next to me was one of the prettier girls in school. Some dude came up to her and started talking to her. She said in a polite but no-nonsense way that she had a boyfriend and left it at that. The dude immediately became belligerent right there on the street and called her all sorts of names. I watched the whole thing.
She wasn’t mean. She wasn’t rude and she wasn’t trying to embarrass him. She just stated a fact, but evidently this was an affront to his masculinity (I don’t recall if he had any friends around him) and I guess he felt as though he needed to defend himself.
I thought us women were the ones who felt some type of way when people of the opposite sex rejected us. We were the ones who dealt with low self-esteem. It had never occurred to me that guys feel the same way. While most just tend to their wounded ego and move on, idiot beastly creatures like the dudes in the Chevy rather just shoot to kill.
What happened to just walking away when you were turned down? Why did Mildred lose her life simply because she didn’t give away her phone number?
I just can’t fathom this.

2008 politics
Barak Obama defied the odds and won the Democratic caucus and Mike Huckabee pulled out an impressive win for the GOP as well.
The fight to be our 44th president has been going on for years. I believe it was mainly fueled by George W. Bush's plans and positions on Iraq and other foreign policies. It seems that America is ready for 'change'. (At least that's what Obama tells us.)
Americans are ready for a new direction being that a large percentage of us are not happy with the direction this country is going on.
In steps in those that are trying to persuade us that THEY are the ones who can implement change:
1. Hillary Clinton - she is overwhelmingly riding on the coattails of her husband Bill Clinton, who is arguably the most popular Democrat on this planet today. I don't trust her because she comes off as fake and seems to switch views the way the wind switches direction. Besides that, I don't think Americans as a whole want to see a monarchy or hierchary (Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton). No more BUSHES or CLINTONS in the White House, please!!! If Hillary does get elected, that means we would have had over 20 years of Bushes and Clintons running America. The first Bush was elected in 1988. We really can't have that.
2. Barak Obama - This guy became really popular through ONE speech at the Democratic National Convention some years back. And now he is riding the waves of said popularity that seems to be growing and growing. It certainly doesn't help that Oprah was campaigning right alongside of him. IMHO, this guy does not have enough experience. Granted, he is refreshing, but the fact that he doesn't feel that he should respect the United States flag certainly doesn't sit well with me. He has much to learn. I believe in a couple of years he will have what it takes to be President. But for now, he really is inexperienced, as evidenced by certain remarks he came under intense scrutiny for: like negotiating with our enemies and such.
3. John Edwards - This Breck girl lost my respect when he paid $400 for a haircut. Sorry, but I can't relate to that. I barely want to pay the $150 for my kinky twists. And he is a socialist. I don't care for socialists.
4. Mike Huckabee - This Baptist minister certainly came out of nowhere to surpass the leads of Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani. He is upfront about his Christian faith and not afraid to display it. But unfortunately, that is a major turn-off for some people and it could very well cost him the nomination. Democrats, however, would love for him to get the GOP nod because they say he is the most beatable guy on the GOPs side. We will see. I don’t agree with Huckabee’s stance on immigration at all.
5. Mitt Romney – The GOPs John Kerry. He is the epitome of a flip flopper. It started with him claiming that he hunted rodents. He didn’t. He then said that his dad marched with MLK Jr. during the civil rights era. After it was proved that it wasn’t true, he changed it up and said FIGURATIVELY his dad marched with Martin Luther King. Too late, Mitt. You are not trustworthy and I don’t think anyone believes what comes out of your mouth. It didn’t help that he had a company who hired illegal aliens working on his estate either.
6. Rudy Giuliani – A noun. A verb. And 9/11. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden accurately summed up the words that typically come out of Rudy G’s mouth. Every other sentence Rudy utters focuses on the fact that he was mayor of New York on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. Yes Rudy: we know you were downtown on that fateful day. After all, City Hall is just blocks from the WTC site. Yes Rudy, we know you offered soothing words to a city and a nation scared and under siege. Yes sir, we recall when Oprah dubbed you America’s mayor. That was then. This is now. We also recall how you openly skipped out on your wife and used tax dollars to get her police escorts and stuff. We recall how friendly and close you were to former NYC police commissioner Bernard Kerik, not knowing he was corrupt and a cheater just like you (or maybe you did know.) Your closeness was evidenced by you offering him as a nominee as head of Homeland Security to President Bush. And don’t think for one minute that Republicans like you. Some actually think you would do well against terrorists, but we haven’t forgotten just how liberal you are. You are pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage and even though you hilariously stated that Mitt Romney had a ‘sanctuary mansion’, New York City was known as a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants for years.
*
Tsk, tsk….so many choices, so MUCH TIME as the caucuses are being held earlier then they ever were. It really is all about picking the less of the many evils that are running to become our next President.
With Hillary and her cackling and speaking in southern accents just to pander and appease a crowd, to Rudy’s taking a phone call from his wife while addressing the NRA (an organization he vehemently fought against as mayor), to Mitt and his faux paus and the rest of them……they certainly don’t give us great choices….
We still got until November though. It’s only January…..
